The Canadian Centre for Addictions began with a dedicated promise to help give back the gift of recovery to those who wanted more from their lives than the path of addiction could provide. In 2011, The addictions rehab began operations in a small house under the mentorship of Jim McKenny, a former Toronto Maple Leafs player and addiction recovery advocate. The rehab program grew and evolved, quickly becoming one of Ontario’s most effective private addiction treatment centres. In 2015, The drug rehab began operations at the larger Hillcrest Mansion in Port Hope. It expanded its services to include 24/7 medical detox and mental health treatment provided by psychologists and psychotherapists.
In 2018, The Canadian Centre for Addictions became one of the pioneering organizations to achieve globally recognized organization accreditation through Accreditation Canada. The rehab centre further expanded the Family and Aftercare programs by dedicating entire departments to these important initiatives and providing these supports for life. Most recently, in 2023, the Canadian Centre for Addictions and the University of Toronto partnered in a rigorous six-year research to study the effects of addiction recovery on cognition and the advancement of addiction treatment. They will begin the operation of two world-class facilities in the Hillcrest Mansion in Port Hope and the Woodlawn Inn in Cobourg, Ontario, in the second half of 2024.
